Reviews – A Love/Hate Relationship

You all know – Author’s live for reviews.

It’s no secret – no big surprise, hell, we’re begging for them every other minute. These days, if you buy something online, you probably don’t even have it yet before someone is sending you an e-mail asking for a review.

Sure, we all understand the principle. If there are a lot of positive reviews, that item will get more attention and more sales.

It’s the same for books.

If you’ve read or listened to a book, leave them a review.

Someone else will come along and leave one, right? That book was great – the author doesn’t need you.

Maybe – but truly, your reviews are our bread and butter. Not only that, they help us to grow and improve. What do you do if you didn’t like a book?

You feel bad about leaving a 2 or 3 star review – be honest. Why didn’t you like it? Is it just not your style? Tell other potential readers just that.

To be honest, I have personally purchased books because of a 1 star review. Seriously? It’s true, the reviewer gave a great explanation about the book and why it wasn’t for her. I understood why she didn’t like it, but since I like bossy asshole alphas, I knew it was just right for me.

You know what?

It was.

That negative review led me to finding one of my all time favorite authors, an author I’m so addicted to, I have read and/or listened to her books more times than I can count, all because of someone’s negative review.

So, why am I going on about this crap?

You know why – I’m asking you to leave reviews. Not just for me, but for any author you’ve read.

Feel daunted by the idea of trying to figure out what to write in the empty white box, cursor blilnking, taunting you? Yeah – I know what that feels like!

Here’s how to do it…

  1. Go back to the page where you bought the book.
  2. Click on some stars.
  3. Pretend you were talking to your best friend. What would you tell that person about the book you just read? {ex. I seriously loved this book. The characters clicked with me right off the bat, I was engaged from page one and had a serious book hangover when it was done. #MorePlease OR This book wasn’t for me. The writing was good, but I didn’t connect with the heroine, she really annoyed me when she sniffed like a snob all the time. There were some gramatical things that irritated me, but mostly, it was the female character, I just didn’t like her, or care what happened. I thought the hero could have done much better…i.e. me!}
  4. Did you know – you can review on GoodReads too, you can even review on other bookseller pages, even if you didn’t buy the book there.
  5. One last thing to consider – if you really liked a book and you’re not ashamed (more on this in a minute) share it on your social media platforms. Maybe it’s exactly the book your brother’s friend’s girlfriend is looking for!

Okay – wait – so what if I like some seriously kinky erotica, but I’m a church secretary, elementary school teacher, or a religious leader? I get that – I read stuff I won’t even admit to – but, you can leave a review anonomously.

On Amazon, the process to edit your profile name (psudeonym) has changed, here are the current directions.

  1. Click Accounts & Lists in the upper right corner of the screen
  2. Scross down and click on Profile which is on the left side in the Ordering and Shopping Preferences Box
  3. Click Edit Your Profile on the right side of the screen
  4. Your Public Name – change it to whatever you like. I’d suggest something neutral like “Book Lover” or “Great Reader” or whatever you like. Then your mama will never know how naughty you really are.

Hope that helps, my darlings! Now – get over there and REVIEW 🙂

Happy Reading,

Anna Scott

Finally Mine Series – More Coming Quickly! Jump in NOW!!!

I’m having so much fun with these Makers of Peace MC guys from Finally Mine!

Right now, I’m writing the Fighting for Mine Series – which is Eric (Fetch) and Patricia Ann’s story. Love getting to spend more time with Chase and Ainsley from Finally Mine!

So – this picture is of ME! It was taken just a couple of years ago 🙂 Just kidding – I was about eight or nine and taken right there in the middle of where these books take place. Some of my very favorite childhood memories are from right there in Eastern Kentucky.

This is Eastern Kentucky, where Finally Mine is set.

Yes – this is me! Don’t notice the hair! Humidity is a BITCH!

Book 4 in the Finally Mine series is coming on Tuesday, August 7th, just a few more days! This is a series of 6 books that follows Chase and Ainsley through all the highs and lows that finally lead him out the other side.

Book 5 will release August 28th and Book 6, the final book in the series will release Septmber 11th. These books are already available on preorder – so no delays!!! No waiting a year for the next part after a terrifying cliffhanger.

After Finally Mine (Chase & Ainsley) I’ll share Already Mine (Justin & Julie) and let me tell you – those two are a handful! We’ll probably be hanging out in Eastern Kentucky for another year, I have plans for at least two more series with the Makers of Peace Motorcycle Club and their women.

I love these characters so much, this area of the world and can’t wait to share them all with you. It’s fun to be able to use some of my favorite memories in my stories. One day, I’ll write my memoirs 🙂 and admit how many of these scenes are true, or based on true events. Of course, I fictionalized them, the locations are mostly real, but fictionalized too, but a few things, like camping at Cave Run Lake are beloved memories from my own childhood.

Happy Reading!

Makers of Peace Motorcycle Club – Fighting For Mine – New Series Underway!

I am loving the Makers of Peace Motorcycle Club. I’m so excited – Finally Mine is done – D-O-N-E! DONE! Already Mine is done, editing starts next month – so now, onto the next series!

Fighting for Mine started out with some vague ideas as Trish began to whisper in my ear. After finishing the first draft of Fighting for Mine Book 1 – and really getting to see what Eric and Trish want to tell us, I’m so excited to find out what happens. next!

I started book 2 on Tuesday, so just 2 days in….whew!

This Girl!

She is STUBBORN – seriously stubborn! Not sure if I love it about her, respect it about her or if it is just going to drive me CRAZY!

In case you don’t know – Fighting for Mine is the third series about the Makers of Peace Motorcycle Club. It’s all about the bikers, their families, their friends and all the crazy crap they can get up to.

Fighting for Mine is all about Eric “Fetch” Cary and Patricia “Trish” Ann Long.

That last name look familiar? Yep – she’s Mountain’s neice and Ainsley’s cousin.

This series is completely different from the others. It has to be, these are two completely different people! Yes, she’s still feisty, but in her own way. Yes, he’s still an alpha biker badass, but in his own way.

This story is told from a new perspective – from Eric and Trish’s eyes – and they don’t see things in the MC the same way Chase and Ainsley do. Sure, Trish grew up in the life. Her dad Runner is Mountain’s beloved big brother, but her life isn’t quite the fairy tale Ainsley’s was.

I’m excited to bring these two to life! I can’t wait for you to meet them – I think you’re really going to like these two – most of the time! Trish is introducted in the Finally Mine Series, along with her family members. You will meet Fetch and start to see this pair together in the Already Mine Series.

Already Mine Book 1 will release October 2, 2018.

Okay 🙂 Back to work for me – it’s Eric’s turn to talk right now, and he is pretty annoyed.

Love you all – and Happy Reading!

*Don’t forget – Finally Mine Book 3 comes out on Tuesday (which just happens to be my birthday!)

Book 2 is coming!

What can I say? I love this couple! There are so many parts of this story that are special to me, some of my favorite places in the world are mentioned in this series.

As a young girl, one of my favorite things to do each summer was to camp on the banks of Cave Run Lake, nestled in Daniel Boone National Forest.

Book 2 in the series was a real struggle. It shows the challenges the Chase and Ainsley face now. The choices Chase made in his past are particularly hard for Ainsley to deal with, and these two stubborn, willfull children of the MC are going to have to find their own way through it all. No surprise there!

Don’t worry, book 3 comes out just three weeks after book 2!

You can preorder your copy on amazon now! And don’t forget to sign up to get an e-mail reminder on release day!

Advanced Reader Copies

I’m excited to share that the ARC of Finally Mine Book 1 is going out this weekend! By this weekend – I mean in like 2 or 3 days! Woo hoo!

Finally Mine was a novella I put out three years ago, but I knew Chase and Ainsley had so much more to share with us. No matter what, no matter how many other stories consumed my mind, these two kept nagging me. I even wrote the entire five book series for Justin & Julie (Already Mine) before I went back to Chase and Ainsley.

WOW! Did they seriously have a lot more to share! I had no idea there was so much they wanted to tell us about their seemingly charmed life. I haven’t cried while writing this much since Trent!

If you’d like to be considered for the ARC group, please join the Facebook Group. There are only a few more spots, we’ll keep that group very small, so once it’s full, we won’t open it up again until someone leaves.

Can’t wait to share Chase and Ainsley and their crazy story!

Happy Boxing Day!

To my beautiful readers!

You are truly the best gift any author could ask for. Your devotion to my work, your willingness to forgive me when I screw up and your ability to embrace the characters that come to life in my twisted mind as voraciously as I do is amazing.

With the crazy that Christmas brings to my household, I wanted to take a moment, now the day after to wish you well. Today, several countries will celebrate Boxing Day – though to be honest, I really don’t know how they celebrate it, so I just want to wish you all a good one, even if you don’t. If it is a day we celebrate or not, we can all wish each other the best.

As the New Year approaches, I am beginning to consider my goals and dreams for 2017. Reed will be released in the first part of the year – assuming I can get myself together enough to finish the editing. After Reed, I honestly don’t know. I have several book ideas in mind, but feel my crazy alter ego, Ms. Anna Cummins sneaking out more and more lately, so I may let her loose and see what naughty and audacious things she has to share.

One goal that I have for the New Year is balance. I will (even if it kills me) find some balance in my life, between the demands of an active family and those of the sometimes strange and relentless characters that will eventually force me to tell their stories, I will find a way to make it all work out.

What will 2017 bring for you? I hope it will be full of love, hope and joy, because it is you, my darling readers that bring such joy to my life. When I hear from you, telling me that you’ve enjoyed one of my books, or that something I’ve written has touched you in a very personal way, it lightens my heart and reminds me why I do what I do.

I am not much on reflecting or wallowing in the past, so let us look forward to our new book boyfriends, to our new loves and crushes and enjoy what amazing things 2017 will bring.

Happy Reading!

Anna Scott
